Sled riding

Seeing my baby boy do big boy things just melts my heart.

Riding the slide in the snow made it way more fun! Gavin was so padded that there was really no way he could get hurt. He absolutely loved this experience.

Preparing to go down the BIG hill with our dear friend Jenn. You could hear him giggle the entire way down, especially when he hit the jump.

It is just so hard to believe that Gavin is old enough to go sled riding. He had a hard time walking in the snow and reminded me of the boy from A Christmas Story. Whenever I removed his covering over his mouth he had a huge SMILE and wanted to yell so loud. Since Gavin couldn't say hey mommy I am too cold we decided not to stay too long and headed indoors to play with his buddy Seth. Seth and Gavin played so well together while the bigger kids continued sledding. Once everyone was finished we ate pizza and visited with good friends. Can't wait for more winter fun and good times with friends!

Gavin and his new BIG boy bed

The day after Christmas Gavin started sleeping in his new BIG boy bed. Kevin and I made a huge deal out of the bed and Gavin bought in to it and was so excited. He slept 3 perfect nights and naps in a row before he realized that he could get out of bed at his choosing. Each night as he would decide to get up a simple reminder and walk back to bed was all it took. Naptime is currently on hold and he is still napping in the crib. Gavin just can't resist his toys when there is daylight. I plan to try again with naps in the toddler bed in February or March. We just want him to be ready for his own room before the baby comes in April. I want Gavin to be excited about the new baby and not feel kicked out of his room. Gavin's BIG boy room is being prepared by daddy and mommy. He will have a car room and tons of fun toys.

Catching up on Christmas

Well to say the least I am behind on posting pictures from Christmas. I am also disappointed looking back now at the number of pictures that I took. I really thought that I was taking more. This year in my defense Gavin still wasn't really into opening and receiving gifts, he was way more into the toys he had once they were open. It took until December 30th to open everything under our tree. Each day I would try to convince him to stop playing with new toys and open something else and he just didn't want to be bothered. He was so content with what he already had. So glad that Kevin and I didn't buy him much or we might still be opening gifts. Gavin was so fortunate to get so many great gifts and the excitement still hasn't worn off as each gift is oh so fun for him.

Christmas morning at home...new Jeep from Grandpa Bob...driving goggles required!
Gavin got these goggles with his tool bench and put them on himself before driving his new jeep...where does he come up with this stuff!

The jeep was a HUGE hit...in fact until it moved to the basement on New Year's Eve he watched his cartoons in it, ate a few snacks inside, and stored many toys in all parts of the car. The jeep is now in the basement where Gavin is learning to drive in preparation for spring time when he lets her rip through the yard...watch out Oliver!!

We had to force Gavin out of our bed Christmas morning, he just wanted to watch his cartoons and didn't know why mommy and daddy were so eager to start the day. Normally we are begging for another couple minutes of snuggling time.

Thank goodness Monica was willing to help Gavin open his gifts or we would have been there are all night!

Gavin is obsessed with trains these days and Great Grandpa's was oh so cool. Gavin had a very hard time only looking and not touching.
